She did it again - The fabulous Bunny
One of my blogger idols Bunny Tomerlin ( check out her website it is awesome, she is a true old school prep) just did the coolest thing on her blog. Instead of a blog roll she has pictures that you click on and there is the blog - Fabulous!! I love the idea!! xoxo, B
p.s. I am not a psycho - I just think Bunny is super cool, and I love to give shout - outs when people are super creative (it is the teacher in me.)
p.p.s. or p.s.s - I made my best friend Red's day again, because I mentioned her in my blog. She said she is now famous!

Designer Gals - Deal

Designer Gals is a website where you can design a gal, like yourself, or a friend and put the character on stationary. There are many options for hair, clothing, props, etc. Designing a gal is very fun and one of the few places where I felt like the character really looked like me. Then you can place that character on stationary. They are offering a promotional deal, - buy one get one free. You can even design one gal, put her on letterhead, then create another gal and put her on to do list pads. The code is SELF and you enter that at check out. Even if you do not order stationary, check out the website. It is fun to create a gal, and send it as an e-card. I made my friend Red's day with various characters of her. I tried to save my image to show you, but I have not figured that out yet! Some bloggers are able to have their designer gals on their blog.
4 Days and counting ... Happy Wednesday - xoxo, B

The Pink Monogram - SALE
I love sales, and the Pink Monogram is having their semi-annual sale right now!
Here are some great items on sale
The description says the bag is pink and black, but it looks like navy to me. Carolyn this bag is calling your name!
Cute shower caddys- I have never seen terry cloth ones before-(back in my day they were plastic).
This tote also comes in pink and green of course - I might need it for back to school.
I love these laptop cases, perfect for our (my) new computer. The Boys is allergic to pink girly things now. He use to like pink - sigh -
Here are some new items (not on sale)
In general I am allergic to aprons, however I might make an exception because I love crabs!!
Love pillows!
Cute tunic - Bunny this would look great on you! - Check back I am going to see if we can get a Becs' Bohos discount!! ** xoxox, B
** Update - the lovely owner of The Pink Monogram was not able to give a discount. Check out the store regardless, it is very reasonable!

Reasons to be happy!!
There are many reasons in Bohemia to be happy today!!
1) Going to a baseball game yesterday with Rockstar Hubby, The Boy and my sister Carolyn. I was trying to take some incognito pictures at the game, but she said they were weird and not to post them!

2) My sister told me about a kitten she wants to adopt and name Princess Sparkles - she is not super girly like that so it was cute!

3) I am getting my bike today! - Watch out world

3) First day of school outfits for yours truly - the Boy wears a uniform

The first dress is a better length, the second might be better for new faculty meetings.
4) 6 days and counting until .... NC BABY

5) Just because anything Lilly makes me happy and smile !!! Happy Monday! xoxoxox, B

One week and counting
In a week we are headed to The Southern Outer Banks!!!

Our first stop will be in "Pirateville" to visit the North Carolina Maritime Museum.
They have a fantastic exhibit on Blackbeard the Pirate (that love able Scallywag)

After our visit to the museum we will have lunch at the super delish Beaufort Grocery Store!
Their bread is yummy!! You have to get there early because they can get crowded quickly.

Then I will wander into cute stores and buy things I really need (not) and my boys will get ice cream and then become annoyed because I am taking too long. - (They really love me!!)
Last summer the theme of our vacation was Pirates and we read a lot of good books .

The boy's books- we had more but I was not able to find them on Amazon. There is a fun book about how a mom is hypnotized and becomes a pirate - so funny!!
These are the books I read, I loved the trilogy about a girl pirate - there is a new book out!

The boy found Pirate gold on the beach and in years past has found pieces of Blackbeard's ship, I love the imagination and wonder of little kids. ( I hope he doesn't grow out of it too soon)

We can't wait!! xoxox, Becs
p.s. You wouldn't like it there, I am telling you for your own good!!

Hairspray - The Creator - John Waters
There is much excitement over the news that Mr. Waters is writing a treatment for a hairspray sequel, so I wanted to post about the genius behind the movies.
I adore John Waters, he is a true Bohemian. Growing up in Baltimore, really Baltimore County, (he would be considered upper middle class) he was raised by traditional parents. I believe at one time he was or still is listed in the Baltimore Blue Book. Mr. Waters maintains a home in one of the posher neighborhoods in Baltimore. He is never photographed or seen outside of his home without either a shirt and tie and/or a Navy Blazer - a true elegant prep ( grocery shopping late one night he has been spotted in one with the collar cut out). His Christmas party's are legendary, those in the Baltimore Boho circles hope to get an invite themselves or go with a friend.
A friend of mine in Baltimore - who is also a John Waters fan, (and gives me updates, like the grocery shopping late night sighting - he was buying jujubes and Tylenol). Told me of a story in her local neighborhood paper of the Independent school in his neighborhood wanting to buy more property to expand. Many neighbors, including Mr. Waters, are against the school buying more land and expanding. He was quoted as saying " the construction noise is hell and if the sale goes through I will personally go to Mr. (Headmaster)'s house at 6:30am , drive on his lawn and honk my horn daily. I have done it before and I will do it again." Priceless, classic Waters and point well taken! xooxox, B

Becs' Books
Books, Books, Books
I love books!!!
I love to read, it has been instilled in me since I was a small child. Check out this website
Some Reads from there you can check out other reading blogs if you choose.
Last Saturday I posted about wanting Alice from the Brady Bunch to visit, that has not happened yet but this arrived on my doorstep.

This book is fantastic! The book is laid out simply and beautifully. She breaks down what should be done daily, weekly, monthly and seasonally. Regardless if Alice does come to visit you daily, weekly, monthly or seasonally, this book is a must have for anyone living on their own!

When my friend first recommended reading this book, I thought no way am I reading a 70's era self-help book - yuck. However I am so glad I listened to her. This book is fantastic, the advice given is practical, in fact it is what you already know, just delivered more in-depth. I am surprised that Oprah hasn't had Dr. Peck on her show, he is right up her alley.

The last long chapter of this book was very funny, I am happy to say laugh out-loud funny. Overall I would give this book a B-.
I would recommend reading his other books they are all funny, funny, funny!! A+++

Preppy Give Away
The ladies over at Preppy Monogrammed gifts are doing a fun give away called Wacky Wednesdays. As you can guess, they are giving away a preppy item once a week. Check out their blog and enter you name and blog info, or email them. They will pick one winner a week. If you post about their contest and one of your readers wins, you will win something as well. Even if you do not enter their contest, check out their store, Preppy Monogrammed Gifts - their items are reasonably priced, super cute and monogrammed (what more could you ask for). They have some great items, such as goodies for back to school or just because! xoxox, BThursday, July 24, 2008
Polyvore Part II - NC Beach Vacation Story Board
I found a way to bring in my NC Beach Vacation story board. It was so much fun to do! (I was an Art/ Philosophy major in undergrad, so I have a few sad design skills) If you take a look you will see a recurring theme - hats, dresses, flip flops, sunglasses, pearl earrings and my favorite necklace. I ALWAYS wear a hat and a ton of sunscreen (it has been drilled in my head from an early age). Dresses are my favorite to wear, they are comfortable and look nice. Flip-flops casual or dressy are all that I wear in the summer. I don't wear a lot of jewelry just pearls, the Tiffany Elsa Peretti necklace, my wedding rings and my husband's signet ring. There are a few different purses that I put in - generally I carry Vera Bradley or a Lands End tote (those are my favorite - sorry L.L. Bean). For my end of the school year present my husband gave me a small pink camera. I am trying to take more pictures in general. Last by not least are the Hello Kitty earrings. Let me explain - Hello Kitty and I were "created" the same year 1976. I loved her when I was little, how can you not? In the past few years she has made a comeback and I have enjoyed seeing her cute face again. In general I don't care for cartoon animals, especially in terms of clothing, etc. The only piece of Hello Kitty decoration I own is a watch that is the shape of her face and pink!! - Enough about Hello Kitty. When you have time check out polyvore, it is a lot of fun! xoxoxox, B

Fun!!
I just found a very fun website Polyvore. You can make concept boards using clothes, colors, accessories, etc. It was so much fun. I couldn't find a way to bring into my blog or link to the NC vacation board that I made. I think I found it on Pink Preppy Party Girl's website. Enjoy, oxox, B
Odds and Ends

I was trying to watch Grey Garden's the other evening and it was not working for me. I really liked both of the women, and felt like they were being exploited. Granted the conditions they were living in were less then desirable but they seemed happy(?) I loved the way they both spoke. When Little Eddie was describing how she did not like to be in the country, how it was too quiet, that is exactly how I feel. I also prefer to be in the city with all the noise. I have never heard anyone else articulate so well how I feel about the country. (RockStar hubby says I am crazy for feeling that way, I can appreciate its beauty) One of my favorite parts is when Little Eddie is describing her outfit as revolutionary and how the handyman might be unhappy with what she is wearing. I found them both very endearing.

I am a HUGE, HUGE, David Sedaris fan. I love, love, love him. However I have been sadly disappointed with his new book When You Are Engulfed in Flames. I feel like I have read a lot of the stories already. I loaned my sister in law, his other books Me Talk Pretty Someday and Dress Your Kids in Corduroy and Denim. So I can' t check those books to see if the stories are repeats or just variations on the same themes, which often he does. I checked out Barrel Fever and the stories are not in that book. I am not loving his new book, I did not laugh until page 44, and I was waiting, hoping, looking for laughs. Did anyone else feel this way or is it just me? (Often it is just me) xoxox, B
