Thanks to everyone who left comments about my first day as the new kid. My new colleagues are very friendly, and kind to me. At one point I found myself not sure where to sit in a room full of the entire school faculty, that was a bit embarrassing, but I was probably the only one who noticed. One of my favorite saying is " People don't think about you half as much as you think they do, they are too busy thinking about themselves." All in all I am getting settled in well, and preparing for the main event~to educate the boys!
Did anyone else see Debbie Phelps on the national evening news? They went to her school were she is the principal and she was asked "Why do you do this?" " You don't have to work anymore "she answered, "I could say this is my profession, but his is my passion, I come there everyday for the students." Very powerful! oxox, B
p.s. Good Luck today RED on your interview, you will hit a home run, we love you!

New Kid at School
Today is my first day of meeting the entire Faculty of our new school. I am beyond a bit nervous! I know every one will be friendly, looking forward to helping if needed, but it is still nerve-wracking! Last week was the new Faculty institute, where I spent all day looking like this:

Millions, and millions of questions I asked. Big Nerd that I am! ( I sound a little like Yoda)

If any of your children are starting school today, or starting a new school today ( California Girl's Girls are) Give them an extra hug, smile, and kiss ( maybe even a present ~ note to Rock Star Hubby) because it is not easy. Even thirty-something grown-ups are nervous. Cross your fingers for me and wish me well! xoox,B

Saturday night fun

Saturday night in the Boho house finds us in the midst of a fun sleepover! There are three boys here celebrating the Boy's 8th birthday! We went to the pool today, and I was invited by one of the boys to stay in the den and watch Star Wars with them. ( I am his former teacher, and he still likes me, that is a nice complement!) I have to say, there is no where else I would want to be right now! (okay maybe on the beach?!?!) xoxo, B
A new Blog

There is a new blog in the neighborhood, I would recommend visiting. M. Lane's Epic, if you have a moment stop by. I feel it is important to support new bloggers. My first comment from my blogger idol Bunny, really encouraged me to continue! Good Luck M. Lane, I am looking forward to more posts! xoxo, B
Stunning Segway Style
Thursday night we went out for dinner in a suburb of our dear city. As we were stopped at a light, we saw this amazing sight!
A very well dressed man, perfectly polished and pressed, waiting at the light on a SEGWAY!!
Here is another look, I was amazed! This is the coolest I have ever seen someone look on a Segway! Well done Stunning Segway Man! oxox, B

So Lucky
Crazy Days

Life has been non-stop the past few days! I have started new faculty orientation, ( I love it), and the boy has turned eight! We have gone from the lazy days of summer, quickly back to the "real world", and it is taking a bit of getting use to. Very exciting, busy times in the Bohemian Household! xoxo, B
p.s. I couldn't make the picture any larger, it says " Her greatest accomplishment was staying blonde", a bit how I feel right now!

Great Movie

We saw The Clone Wars movie yesterday and it was fantastic! The movie was action packed, funny, and quick paced. There is a strong female Jedi in the movie which is great if you want to take a young girl. The Boy was on the edge of his seat, acting out the light saber fights. I highly recommend this movie if you have young children, or someone in your life who loves Star Wars! ( There were a few grown men in the room without children).

Also if you ever have a chance to go see a movie at The Landmark Theatres go! One of the more "civilized" movie theatres we have been to in a while. The medium popcorn is a true medium, not the size of a bathroom waste paper basket, the seats are leather, I could go on and on. The Landmark Theatre is a great place to see a movie. My first choice! oxoxox, B

New Yorker Covers - Part 2
Last night I was reading the New Yorker, and admiring the beautiful cover.

The Cover is illustrated by one of my favorite artists Jean-Jacques Sempe. I was compelled to find out more about him,and publish a positive post about the New Yorker's Covers. (If you remember I did not enjoy the satire of The Obama cover awhile back) I found out that Yesterday was his Birthday, yes his birthday!! (In addition to my brother's birthday as well) I found it a bit odd, that last night I was struck by how beautiful the cover was, wanted to learn more about the artist and it was his birthday!! In general the covers are done in (I believe) watercolors,( which is not easy) they look so effortless, yet so elegant.
Below are more New Yorker Covers by Mr. Sempe

Happy Belated Birthday Mr. Sempe!! oxoxx, B

Tagged
I have been tagged by the lovely Brit ~ Europafox, ( check out her website) for 5 words I dislike. More often then not I dislike when words are misused, such as good and well , bad or poor, and is and are, Although I will be the first to admit that often I am responsible for misusing those words as well.
Up and Down used in the geographic sense ( I went up to see him, when you really went down or south geographically to visit him)
Pant for Pants - I understand that it is one pair, but they are called PANTS, and it is my understanding that is the correct pronunciation for your damn pants.
Pee - I was brought up to say tinkle or go to the bathroom. It's tough to try to get an 8 year old boy to say tinkle - I have to give that one up.
I try to keep this post PG rated because of The Nosy Boy who can read. I dislike certain terms that have become "common slang" for body parts such as C (see) you next tuesday (read between the lines).
I will tag Petunia in Paradise, Bunny Tomerlin, The Trad ( if he cares to play), and Tres Poshe Preppy ( she is popular and may have already done this), and Johnny at 15 Minute Lunch ( he is so funny I would love to read what he comes up with).
Also if you read this and would like to do one on your blog or leave some appropriate words that you dislike in the comment section feel free! We are not exclusive in Bohemia, (the more the merrier) that is part of the fun of living here! Enjoy
Thanks again Europafox (again check her out, she is fun to read and learn about Preppy living on the other side of the Pond) this was fun! xoox, B

Kickin' it Old School Style
Today I was talking with my friend the Hairstylist about the Target add that is a "recreation " of The Breakfast Club. Then our other friend chimed in and was amazed at how young all the children were. The three of us were laughing about how they probably had to watch the movie and complained to all their friends about how they had to watch an old movie. Then we started off on a tangent about how the (principal in the movie) had to put down the phone to check on them, and my stylist was saying her mom still had a phone with a cord. The other friend, started acting out how when she was younger her parents had a phone with a long cord, long enough so she could run in the bathroom and have some privacy. Remember how you had to untangle the cord by holding it upside down. This funny conversation led me to some other thoughts of kickin' it old school . On my iPod shuffle (I have been slow to the wonders of iPodhood) I have been listening to the Beastie Boys, Slick Rick, L.L. Cool J, and 3rd Bass. These folks are the big brothers and sisters ( Mary J. Blige is on one song) of today's rappers. I remember MTV, when it was just one channel, and played music videos. I also watched the First Real World -(don't remember the city). I remember when Will Smith was a rapper, and on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and not a weirdo, like his new best friend Tom Cruise, who was sort of cute, at the time ( not my taste) and not a psycho. Such an old lady I am! xoox, B

Michael Phelps - Role Model
A special shout - out to Michael Phelps
Our family has been fans of this extraordinary young man for a while. Before all the attention, endorsements, and hoop-la ( all of which are deserving) we were aware this was someone to watch. The Boy (when he was very young) and I saw Michael Phelps in person, and he is truly built to swim. Physically he is amazing!
Best of luck to you Michael Phelps, we will continue to be your fans, regardless of what you bring back from the Olympics - you are a role model!! xoxo, The Boho Family

p.s. You know you are getting older when you look at this amazing physically fit man and think, Wow I bet your mom is so proud of you! - Oh well, one day it might be my baby boy!
A, E, I, O, U
Today I am off to a Vowel training workshop at my new school, to learn more about the wonderful world of Phonemes and Vowels. Enjoy this poem!! xoxox, B

Postcard from the Beach
The Houses at the Beach in NC are amazing.
Some houses have 10 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms and look like small hotels. Entire families- extended families come and stay in these houses together for the week ~ (brave souls)
I love the names of the houses, we have seen Chocolate Thunder, Granted Wish, Marine Retreat (with the Marine's emblem) , Bikini Bottom (with a picture of Sponge Bob) and so on. Here is my absolute hands down favorite!
I found a house that would be perfect for the Boho family~ but is it not for sale for rent.
(Tried to post a picture but Blogger was not cooperating)
So I decided that I (Ms. Independent) need to buy a house down here, because I am "off" (not really) in the summer. Rock Star Hubby could "commute" (10 hours) to visit us. He started laughing when I said the word commute.
Here is what I found that I (Ms. Independent) could afford ~A cute little house (read:trailer)
I have it on good authority that beach trailers are all the rage in Montauk. An article in this month's Vanity Fair** said the same. Rock Star Hubby reminded me that my house (trailer) would not be in Montauk, is not an Airstream, and was a trailer. He couldn't see past the Trailer part. Plus The Boy said when he was older he would not bring his friends to my"house". So for now there is no beach house/trailer in my future, oh well! xoox, B
p.s. Trailer does not equal Boho
From the Vanity Fair Article:
Surfers have always flocked to Montauk’s Ditch Plains beach, but now, along with nationally known surfing veterans like Joel Tudor and Herbie Fletcher, you’re likely to see Schnabel, Lindemann, or activist hedge-funder Daniel S. Loeb, who paid $45 million for a penthouse apartment at newly built 15 Central Park West earlier this year. Some of the hottest real estate is in the beachfront trailer park. Singer Jimmy Buffett reportedly offered $430,000 for a trailer not long ago; Paul Morrissey has decamped here from Eothen. “The status symbol is to have a double-wide and a double lot,” Golden explains. “It’s where the elite meet.” Even trailer rentals are climbing: $35,000 for the season is about average.

Kate Spade- Back to School must haves and odds & ends

Kate Spade yummies
Laptop case and matching book bag.

Organizers and notebook.

Love these shoes for back to school - but not for me (boo)! Red you could wear these to court!

These are better for school.

However I am in LOVE with these shoes, (that's why the pictures are so big) - definitely not for school!

Here are some totes for sale, also in navy:

This tote and clutch (also on sale) would be great together for the farmer's market, or in the warmer weather for everyday!

Enjoy the eye candy! xoxox, Becs - Kate Spade
